The ornithology magazine «American Ornithology for Home and School» published from 1901 to 1906, was a stepping stone in Chester A. Reed’s career. In each issue, Chester published a few black and white or color drawings.

In the 1901 publication year, Chester did not publish color drawings.
The color drawings appeared regularly in the magazine in 1902.
